Birthday Journal

A 21st birthday gift for Holly. Commissioned by her father, who specifically requested the hills of Torridon, including Liathach, both featured in this beautiful vintage map of this stunning and wild area of Scotland. The commission includes, rivet and washer closure pocket mounted in the inside back cover and a book-mark featuring the very decorative edge of the map sheet.

Created especially for the Christmas Market at the Custom House, Leith. A map of the city dating from 1977 features unusual colours enhanced with the use of a rich purple book-cloth binding.

Wedding Guest Book

A wedding guest book. The client specifically requested an area of north Wales where the wedding took place in early July. The book is bound with an Ordnance Survey RAF chart dating from 1962. The village of Nefyn (Nevin), the location for the wedding features on the cover. The Nefyn Sailing Club logo features in a rubber stamp which the couple will use on 'thank-you' stationery following their wedding.

Visitor Book

A guest book for Sporting Estate - Old Milton near Kingussie in Upper Strathspey within the Cairngorms National Park. The book is bound with Bartholomew's sheet 51 'The Grampians' dating from 1968. The hamlet where the house is located at Milton features on the front cover. The back cover is bound with the same map featuring the neighbouring towns of Blairgowrie and Pitlochry. Further details from the map sheet are added to the title pages.

Functional Fastenings

Add a flourish with functional bindings. These include brass rivet washer and thread closure. Kraft envelope pockets inside the covers for keeping tickets or business cards. Stainless screw bindings can be added to the spine too.

Sketchbooks, The Series...

Gordon, an architect has put his pocket sketchbooks to good use. Together, they have travelled the world, literally. From Edinburgh to New Zealand via Singapore, he has filled them full of sketches of skylines and places visited along the way... wonderful! These two feature a 1911 map of the Isle of Skye. He's now embarking on sketchbook number three, a 1922 map of southern Skye.

An A5 Wedding Planner using marbled paper in shades of red and deep orange. Silver-grey silk taffeta book-cloth – reminiscent of 'morning dress'. Orange and yellow header tape and ivory ribbon finishes off the binding. Text pages are ruled cream cartridge.

THREE PIECE  SUITE

Trio using Bartholomew 1964 Vintage map

A special gift for a history enthusiast who hails from Argyll. An A6 landscape journal, mini notebook and a bookmark all made from a single Bartholomew sheet map dating from 1964. Ben Arthur, (The Cobbler) was deliberately kept-by for the bookmark. Loch Fyne, Holy Loch and Inveraray feature on the covers. Ingres end-papers were picked to complement the colours found in the map and a matching ribbon.

All my book-boards are made from recycled materials. Maps, marbled paper bindings are vintage up-cycled. My book-block artists drawing paper is acid free made from FSC sources in a mill 60% powered by Hydro power. All other materials including Kraft papers are recycled.
