Every book is handmade and unique. I start by taking the best Fabriano cartridge paper, trimming and folding into individual signatures. The signatures are sewn together to make a book-block. Page-marking ribbon(s) are added as a useful flourish along with decorative end-papers and header tapes.

Vintage maps, marbled papers and music score are used to complete the binding. In summer I create Blueprints using gathered leaves or seed-heads captured in print by strong coastal sunlight.

I use recycled stock for lined journals, Victorian ledger and old window envelopes have been intertwined to make an interesting bind. Together, they make ideal sketching, notebooks, wedding planners, guest books, bullet journals...

I learnt bookbinding at art college prior to a career as a creative graphic designer, adventure writer, illustrator and photographer.

I am a former editor of the Outdoor Adventure Guide, which led to a love of walking, travel writing and maps. I indulge in the cartographers detail and particularly enjoy how the map becomes three-dimensional when used as a book binding. Old maps have a unique charm of their own too. The way place names have altered over the years is fascinating.
